Experience the Magic of KOMOREBI: A New Ballet Premiering in Austin, Texas

Austin, TX—Ventana Ballet exuberantly announces the world premiere of KOMOREBI, a remarkable new ballet created and produced by the company's resident choreographer, Navaji David Nava. This mesmerizing creation takes center stage for a 5-show run at the beautiful KMFA Draylen Mason Music Studio during September 21-23, 2023.

KOMOREBI takes the audience on an enchanting journey, beginning with a sound bath, performed by musician Vanush Von Love, and accompanied by Navaji. The ballet features a diverse soundtrack that includes South American Ikaros, Chilean folk music, classical guitar, Sanskrit hymns, and Kodo drums. As the story unfolds, audiences will be captivated by the stunning visuals designed and created by Navaji and the powerful emotions portrayed by the talented dancers.

KOMOREBI is an intimate and impactful experience for audiences of all ages, featuring a unique blend of soundscapes and cyclical dance patterns inspired by Navaji's innovative methodology of dance, called Atma Moves. “Atma Moves is the somatic experience of incarnation; of being and becoming,” explains Navaji. The ballet tells the story of perseverance, hope, and reverence as it underscores the relationship between humanity, the natural world, and cycles in the cosmos.

In the creation of KOMOREBI, Navaji shares, "As our lives rapidly evolve to coexist with technology and artificial intelligence, I want to honor the intellect, emotions, and creativity unique to the human spirit."

The September premiere of KOMOREBI proudly presents in tandem, the Youth Art Show, or “YAS” for short. YAS is a platform for young artists to showcase their work and develop their skills in a professional setting. Their artwork will be exhibited at the premiere at KMFA in September, further enhancing the event's creative atmosphere and highlighting the voices of artists of the next generation.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Ventana Ballet will host the SUNLIGHT GALA, a fundraising event on August 5th. The gala presents an evening of music, dance, conversation, and refreshments supporting the premiere of KOMOREBI. Guests are invited to dress in their brightest sun colors and join Navaji and the dancers at the First Street Studio Theater for a preview performance and themed activities.

In September, KOMOREBI will feature intimate performances with limited seating to ensure accessibility and intimacy. Tiered seating is provided in front of the performance area.
